We heard that “The reason why Mr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae became the chairman of the Japan Student Shorinji Kempo Federation” is because he was struck and was impressed by the way of life of the founder of the Shorinji Kempo, Doshin So, the excellence of the Shorinji Kempo, and because he himself was a rank holder in Judo, he wanted Shorinji Kempo to be a martial art comparable to Judo.
Through the extraordinary love of Tokai University alumni Mr. Kizumi Hirate, we are able to convey the attraction of Shorinji Kempo not only to Japan, but also to the world.

Kenji Watanabe(Captain of the 19th generation of Tokai University Shorinji Kempo Club)
“Experiencing Shorinji Kempo”I longed for the punch, kick and technique of my seniors, and wanted to become stronger myself, so I entered the Shorinji Kempo Club.
During the four years, I learned that it is important for me, as well as my peers, to grow the same way.
When I entered society, I faced many difficulties.
I had a hard time learning how to organize people in an organization.
Instead of thinking only about the consequences, I act and move forward with courage if I think it is a good move, and I am working hard every day for my company and for the sake of society without forgetting “Live half of your life for yourself, and the other half for other’s happiness”.
